On the 27th Day of the Month

If you ask me what my favorite number is from one to ten it is always 3. If you ask me for my favorite number, I always pick my birthday number which is 27. I found some interesting information about the number 27, and wouldn't you know it, oddly it describes me. The number 27 is a symbol of wisdom and understanding in many belief systems. It is associated with deep insights and a higher level of consciousness. This one I really like, 27 is a reflection of the significance of acquiring knowledge and seeking profound understanding in life.

Fun Facts: 27 is the atomic number of cobalt, there are 27 letters in the Arabic language, 27 bones in your hand and 27 books in the New Testament of the Bible.

Here are the descriptive words for people that have a birthdate on the 27th. We are believed to be highly intuitive and spiritual. We possess a deep understanding of the world and universe. We are wise, enlightened and are connected to a higher realm.

As everyone knows my birthday is November 27th. For several years now, on my birthday I embark on a project. On my birthday last year, I decided to honor the 27th of each month and make the day special. Since I have retired, I am noticing I struggle to know what date and day it is. Even though I thought it was going to be a simple thing to do, I ended up circling the date on the calendar as a reminder it was to be a special day.

November 27th: Today is my birthday which is always amazing. I got up early and enjoyed coffee and my computer of course. I did feel like Queen for the day, thanks to so many people who acknowledged my birthday.

December 27th: It was a rough start to the new plan; I remembered on the 28th I had missed my special day. In reflection, I had gone to CrossFit, and I had also planned a spontaneous road trip for the next day. Kinda special in their own way.

January 27th: I enjoyed a hockey game at the new hockey academy. The weather was beautiful and what more could I ask for when it comes to celebrating in January.

February 27th: This month I decided I needed to pick it up. I am not sure what I thought I would be doing on the 27th of every month, but I felt my whole plan was derailed, and it is only the third month in. On February 27th my celebration was on a Tuesday. I started out the day by having reflexology, one of my favorite things. My renovations had started on the 26. It was very cold, and the men were unable to work on outside projects. I was impressed the company sent 5 young men to install my new flooring. I thought I could be living in a reno situation for several days, how special for me to have it done in 17 hours on the 27th.

March 27th: This month's celebration was in BC. I went to the movie "Kung Fu Panda" with my grandchildren. I love dipping into a child's world. Animated movies always carry such great messages for adults if you are looking for them. My Granddaughter would say, "this is Grandma's a special day". Hanging out with them is always special and adding a movie was a bonus.

April 27th: It was perhaps one of the windiest that we have had so far this year. There had been a substantial amount of rain the day before. The river is slightly past its boundaries and that is hard to imagine since we didn't get much snow. April 27 was a Saturday, and I did preparation for the next business day, "Fan Favorites by May and Faye".

May 27th: I was at my besties for a visit. We got the giggles first thing in the morning and what a great way to start a day. Laughing about stupid things is one of the most important things to do in life.

June 27th: Today is another preparation day for the first business bake sale. I had many thoughts going through my head to make this new adventure fun and exciting. I completed this special day with a nice drive in the country and visit to the river.

July 27th: It is ridiculously hot today; it has been so hot for a long time. The Olympics have started, and I have them going on my TV. I am sad because we are getting so close to the end of July. I may have missed the mark on this one.

August 27th: This day was anticipated as a big day, as I was finally scheduled to get my hail damage repaired on my vehicle. My dear friend's mom's funeral was also scheduled for this day, so I had to rent a vehicle to use for a day. Who knew I had insurance to cover costs of a vehicle when you can't use your own. I think because it was an MPI claim, I got a vehicle much bigger than I would ever need. It was a 6 passenger, hybrid, Sienna. A wee step up from the Ford Escape. Off I went to Saskatchewan to the funeral. On the way home I noticed that my phone said I needed a SIM card, and I only had emergency numbers. I had no clue what all of that meant but I did know 911 wouldn't care if my phone wasn't working. When I got back to Brandon, the business was closed, and I needed to call a friend to pick me up. I am not sure if I thought my phone would miraculously recover and work once in Brandon, surprise it didn't. I did have the forethought to not drop the keys before I had a pickup arranged. I drove to the mall to get my phone checked. The lovely young man was perplexed and said he had "never" seen this issue. It was a simple fix; he took the SIM card out and put it back in the phone and it worked. My friend picked me up and I was finally home. As I emptied my purse to find said phone, I realized I didn't have it. The only place it could be was in the rented Sienna. Off to my friends to discuss a plan. There is no emergency number for the car rental place, which clearly this was an emergency. I did make sure I picked up the business card for the employee at the rental place, which I had left in the vehicle getting repaired. I told my friend that I needed to go back to the dealership and make sure it was in the vehicle and start from there. Away we went, and as we are driving into the place, I could see a van at the door and someone going into the building. It was the guy that runs it, he was just getting water. He opened the lockbox, and I got my phone. What are the chances that for the 5 minutes he was at the dealership, I arrived? His wise words were, "make sure you check to see if there is anything else you forgot". I think this was a situation where I landed on my feet. I call those moments a "divine intervention". I was glad to see the end of the day.

September 27th: Today is Friday which is gym day. On the last Friday of the month the class goes out for lunch, which I was responsible to organize. I am also packed and ready to go to Saskatchewan to my Mom's 90th birthday the next day. Preparation meant scrub the black on my vehicle with this amazing product, "Back to Black".  Since I am Mom's supplier of bread, that was another task. So many details to remember for such a big birthday, but it was an exciting day.

October 27th:  I just spent some time at a retreat with my fellow paddlers. I am full of fun and fellowship. With the help of other "Newbies" we had a great fun fest on Friday night. A business meeting has helped me understand how Waves of Hope works. Today I will be reflecting on the fun time I had.

I can't believe I have been writing this for a year. I am reminded how quickly time flies. What started out as a "thing" to do to honor my birthday number, has turned into a thing in my life.

If you haven't already checked out what your birthday number means, I suggest you do. It will describe you. "27" is known to be a powerful and positive number, radiating energies of compassion, kindness and spiritual awareness. It is a number to appreciate. Need I say more?

25 things to embrace in 2025

Here is a concept to think about today, "If you want 2025 to be good, make it that way". I read that and thought what a great blog post. The article included some suggestions, I picked out the ones I liked, added some of my own and developed a list. Here are 25 thoughts that may help guide you to make 2025 one of your best years.      1. Stop panicking, j ust let things happen. If you are someone who likes to panic this will be very difficult for you to do. I think what this is really saying is, let go of control. I have come to realize once I try to control a situation, the situation controls me. It takes on a life of its own, and before long I have lost all control of what I want.     2. Do what you want to do. Go for it, learn a new language, change careers, go on that trip. Your worst enemy is hesitation. This is paramount in retirement, one simply never knows what is around the corner, so do it while you can. As we age, we tend to talk ourselves out of...

Unbelievable

I am feeling very lighthearted as I write this post. What you are about to read is a collection of what we could call, "first world problems". It is going to unfold just like my conversations with my bestie, jumping from one topic to another at warp speed with absolutely no connection to the previous topic.  There are just an unbelievable number of perplexing things in life.  For instance, how can a dryer ball simply disappear. Lost forever in your home, never be to be seen again. Or, how can you have a grocery list in front of you yet miss the very thing you went to the grocery store to get. The only answer to those questions is, "because".  I would be amiss if I didn't use this time to speak of the unbelievable January weather. I often describe the weather as bipolar and this January the weather went right off its medication. When the weather is off its meds, it goes up and down the thermometer like a maniac.  At least when it is extremely cold you don't...

Moira

I am very proud to share my new morning routine. I start my day in my recliner with my coffee, watching "Schitt'$ Creek". The rule is before I do anything, I watch my show. I don't allow myself to open my computer or check my phone. It is a self-imposed exercise in self-discipline, I put my total focus into the show. I am hopeful by focusing early in the day I will carry it forward for the rest of my day. The best part of my new routine is, early in the morning I am already laughing, the show is just so funny.       If you haven't watched Schitt'$ Creek, I recommend it. It is a Netflix series and is right up there with Grace and Frankie. Give yourself time to get into the series, it can seem silly at the start. But when you realize you are hooked you will be binge watching until 2 am. Schitt'$ Creek is shot in Orangeville Ontario, and the "Rosebud" is a real motel in the town. It is  an exaggerated series of a very wealthy family that went bankru...
